This rainy Saturday turned into anything but a dreary affair as Luke & Lauren celebrated their wedding day with us! It was practically a monsoon all the way down I-85 to downtown Mooresville where the reception was to take place at The Charles Mack Citizens Center. Of course, that made the pre-ceremony festivities with my favorite photographers (2 & 3 Photography) very interesting! But the rain subsided and the festivities began around 6pm. After a rousing introduction of the bridal party, Luke & Lauren made full use of my MC credentials by having me direct the crowd through dinner.
After dinner, we got things going with the traditional First Dance. Luke & Lauren chose the classic "With This Ring" by The Platters, followed by Lauren and her father dancing to "The Way You Look Tonight" and Luke and his mother hitting the floor to "My Friend" by Plus One.
We then invited everyone to the join them on the floor as we spanned both genre and generation, with some of the requests including "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang, "The Cupid Shuffle", "Carolina Girls", Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning" and "Proud Mary" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
The party worked itself into a lather by 10 o'clock and we finished strong with requests like "Party In The USA", "Shout!", "Cotton Eyed Joe" and "The Train" (which as you can see above, ended up taking the party the full length of the ballroom!) We ended with their requested last song "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas and then sent the newlyweds out through the courtyard to their awaiting limo ride and a happily ever after!
Thanks once again to Thad and Sarah from 2&3 Photography for the pictures. If you'd like to see more moments from this event, check out their photo blog by clicking here.
These are the type of weddings that make me really love my job as a DJ. I get to be a part of once-in-a-lifetime celebrations and get to see those pure, unblemished moments of happiness and love. To know that I've played my role and somehow been a small part of that is genuinely humbling. Thanks so much to Luke, Lauren, and their families for letting me be there!
